*** The Concrete Boy 450 EBS on tiptoe in the BVH Memmingen State Theatre ***

Fortunately investment in a number of public projects is still possible even during periods where funding is tight and this will hopefully continue to be the case in the near future. For instance the Swabian State Theatre in Memmingen is being refurbished and extended during its summer break. 2,500m² of cement screed will be laid, with raised floors used in workshops and test rooms where large amounts of equipment have to be installed. The existing floor will be partially refurbished and adapted.

This challenging work is being undertaken by Torgau-based KFK Estrichbau GmbH. Founded in 1997, the company and its three Managing Directors, Mr. Frauendorf, Mr. Kunze and Mr. Kanitz, today operates throughout Germany. The company specialises in the laying of cement-based screed, calcium sulphate screed and industrial floors. Since 2009, the company has also been operating an electric Concrete Boy, as well as a proven diesel Brinkmann Concrete Boy. The company used the electric Concrete Boy on the Memmingen town-centre site. All of KFK's equipment is fitted with feeders and scrapers, simplifying work, improving employees' moods and so increasing pumping capacity. Driving the hydraulics for the feeder and scraper is not a problem for the Concrete Boy 450's high-output electric motor. The other benefits of the electric drive are obvious: no emissions of harmful substances, no noise pollution. This means that the electric Concrete Boy can also be used unrestrictedly at sensitive sites, like health resorts and tourist destinations, hospitals etc. All this without incurring any diesel costs!

KFK employees are also satisfied: the equipment is pleasantly quiet, the feeder and scraper are simple to use and easy to handle, it has an excellent and even pump capacity, meaning that hose lengths of 120 m and more are not a problem. This is guaranteed by the excellent efficiency and consistent torque of the electric motor. Colleagues always have a 100 m cable on hand to connect the electric Concrete Boy to the site distribution box.

There has never been a problem with the electrical connection, according to Mr. Frauendorf, as it was always possible to clarify it with the site management team. The Concrete Boy EC 450 has even been used in detached houses - most certainly an exception to the rule. The Brinkmann electric Concrete Boy is an interesting alternative and addition to the company's equipment. However, the workers in Memmingen had to get a move on… their next site, a clinic in Munich, is already waiting.
